what gas stations carry 91 octane?
I live in Katy, TX (outside Houston), and I need 91 octane for my truck. Someone knows who has it? For those unfamiliar with the area, we have Shell, Exxon, Texaco, Vallero, Chevron, etc. I just dont know which one is, and prefer not to drive around search. Thanks for your help
Do you have a pick-up? All new trucks run on diesel or regular 87. I do not know any service stations no 91 octane … We must go to a big city.
Oil companies saving the rainforest
My job involves a lot of work online, looking for sites, the search of articles to get a clearer picture of the current situation in Ecuador. Every now andthen I encounter items that really opened my eyes. They give me new ideas on such issues already made my mind up about.
That's what happened to me today, surfing the Internet I found an article written by Kurt Glaubitz Chevron one of the major oil companies in the world. The article had some interesting paragraphs on the positive impact of Chevron (or actually her daughter Texaco) in Ecuador. By example, on the economic impact of the oil industry in Ecuador:
"From 1972-1992, the consortium, of which TexPet (in collaboration between Texaco and Petroecuador) Wasa minority shareholder, produced more than 1.7 million barrels of oil from the East. Production generates significant income for the country.During those two decades, the consortium contributed about 25 billion U.S. dollars in Ecuador, a figure that represented 50 percent of the country nationalproduct GDP in that period. ". The economic impact of the oil industry has beenincredible. Undoubtedly Ecuador has served well. Jobs are created, the government is huge funds to support the country and is the best, the jungle has barely been damaged, according to Chevron.
"The consortium of oil production activities contributed minimally to deforestation. consortium area of operations amounted to 6,400 acres (about 2,600 hectares). This represents 0.02percent of the 32 million acres (13 million hectares) that make up the Ecuadorian rainforest, and much of the concession area that remained outside of oil operations.
Several organizations have found themselves in courts around the world to ensure the safety of the environment and preserve the lifestyle of many indigenous communities. Chevron is, however, proud to announce that they have been very active in supporting small projects in indigenous communities.
"Texaco Petroleum Co. (Texpet) actively participated in community activities for the consortium itsinvolvement oil producer in Ecuador, and during theperiod was managing the program remediation. The company made financial contributions to hospitals and numerous clinics and projects that brought drinking water to economically depressed areas of East. The company also provided funds to help recipients of Fulbright scholarships to teach in Ecuador and abroad. "
So you may ask, "What is wrong with this picture? '.
Well, there are some side effects to the contribution of Texaco in Ecuador. Especially involving small communities inthe forest and the forest itself. My work has taken me to small communities in the jungle. One of these communities Sumak called Sacha.
Sacha Sumak is not a small indigenous community far from Tena. Sacha Sumak place is absolutely breathtaking. In the middle of the forest beside the Rio Napo is an amazing place to visit. Unfortunately, it was more than just the forest in the area. Sacha Sumak is located on top of a large reservoir. Texaco learned this and decided fucking big oil refinery right next to this small town. This of course had great impact on the lives of the people of Sumak Sacha. Texaco obviously knew thatthey had to make some concessions to the community. They agreed to pay an annual contribution of $ 900.00 USD to compensate for the inconvenience.
A promise was made to community that the work would be offered to members of the community.
All these promises were at the height of the company billions. The $ 900.00 USD will be paid one year and the employment offered were.
Unfortunately, the community was not aware of all the negative impacts of Texaco's intrusion in their lifestyle.
Thismoment in dozens of trucks are driving through the town every day to reach the riverbank. Dumping their waste into the River Napo inthe has already caused the contaminated soil, and the River. Pollution of the river continues for miles downstream affecting the way of life of various communities area. The community is not able to cultivate their lands due to soil contamination. The jobs offered to members of the community by Texaco are scarce and the company pays terrible wages, even by the standards of Ecuador.
The financial contribution that Ecuador is enormous and deforestation due to the presence of air Oil is relatively small. Certainlyfinancially Texaco has contributed greatly to the development of the country, but none of this justifies the exploitation and deception of small indigenous communities. Neither Does this justify the pollution of rivers like the Napo River and its surroundings.
Items such as Chevron Kurt Glaubitz open your eyes. Not about what you mention, but what is not mentioned.
