What if the government did with respect to the oil spill?
What if, instead of skimming it for themselves, government U.S. stated that the oil could get owned by? Chevron, Texaco, et al. down there by truck in a heartbeat (Well, more than 100,000 barrels of free oil is literally waiting to be had). BP has more incentives to close the leak because every day they lose more oil, have no way to recover. What do you think? Is it so crazy?
I have serious doubt that it is economically viable. I bet it will cost you than to recover oil from the sea which makes for boring. On this basis, who will devote resources to expensive oil recovery? No operation trade is safe.
