Enzo Ferrari from birth to the rule of exotic cars

Born in Emilia-Romagna, and raised in Modena, Italy, Enzo Ferrari grew up with little formal education, but an irresistible desire to race cars. During the First World War was a mule-Skinner in the Italian army. His grandfather, Alfredo, died in 1916 following a widespread outbreak of influenza Italian. Enzo became sick himself and was consequently discharged from Italian service. Upon returning home, he discovered the family business had fallen. With no other job prospects he sought unsuccessfully to find employment at Fiat and eventually settled for a job in a company smaller car called CMN redesigning truck bodies used in small passenger cars,. Took career in 1919 in the team CMN, but had little success in the first.

CMN He left in 1920 to work at Alfa Romeo and racing their cars in local races that had more success. In 1923, racing in Ravenna, which bought the badge rampant horse decorated the fuselage of Francesco (Italian Baracca As the First WWI) SPAD fighter, given from his mother, taken from the wreckage of the plane after his mysterious death. This icon will wait until 1932 to be revoked in a vehicle racing. In 1924 he won the Coppa Acerbo in Pescara. His successes in local races Alfa encouraged to offer an opportunity for more competition and was praised by famous Mussolini. Ferrari turned this opportunity down and in a funk does not compete again until 1927 and even then his racing career was often more. He continued to work without delay Alfa Romeo until 1929 before starting Scuderia Ferrari as the Racing Team Alfa.

Ferrari managed the development of the factory Alfa cars, and created a group of over forty drivers, including Giuseppe Campari and Tazio Nuvolari. Ferrari continued to race until the birth of his son for the first time in 1932 (Alfredo Ferrari, known as Dino, who died in 1956).

The support of Alfa Romeo lasted until 1933 when financial constraints made Alfa retire. Only the intervention of Pirelli did Ferrari receive all cars. Despite the quality of the Scuderia drivers the company won few victories (1935 in Germany by Nuvolari was an important exception). Vehicle of the Union and Mercedes ruled the day.

In 1937 Alfa took control of its efforts to compete again, reducing Ferrari to Director of Sports under Alfa's engineering director. Ferrari soon left, but a contract clause restricted him from racing or planning four years.

Auto-Avio Costruzioni established, a company supplying parts to other racing teams. But in the Mille Miglia of 1940 the company manufactured two cars to compete, driven by Alberto Ascari and Lothario Rangoni. During World War II his firm was involved in war production after bombing relocated from Modena to Maranello. It was not until after World War II that Ferrari tried to lose his fascist reputation that cars bearing his name, founding today's Ferrari SpA in 1945.

The 1st Open Wheel race was in Turin in 1948 and the first victory came at the end of the year Lago di Garda. Ferrari took part in the Formula 1 World Championship since its introduction in 1950, but the first victory was not until the English Grand Prix 1951. The first championship came in 1952-53, when the Formula One season was raced with Formula 2 cars. The company also sells automobile production to sports to finance the careers of efforts not only on the Grand Prix, but also in events like the Mille Miglia and Le Mans. In fact many of the largest Company victories came at Le Mans (fourteen victories, six of them in a row from 1960 to 1965) instead of at the Grand Prix, the company actually was more concerned that there Formula One in the 1950s and 1960s despite the successes of Juan-Manuel Fangio (1956), Mike Hawthorn (1958), Phil Hill (1961) and John Surtees (1964).

In the 1960s the issues of reduced demand and inadequate financing forced Ferrari to allow Fiat to take a position in the company. Ford had tried to buy the company in 1963 by $ 18,000,000 U.S., but had been rejected. The company became a public company and Fiat took a small share in 1965 and then in 1969 increased their share to half of the company. (In 1988 Fiat's holding was increased to 90%).

Ferrari remained CEO until 1971. Despite giving up a power stayed on the business continued until his power on the input of Fiat took some time to take effect. It was not until 1975 with Niki Lauda that the firm won any championships with Niki Lauda, the ability of the driver and the driver's ability and shortcomings of the framework and aerodynamics. But after that the framework and the guarantee of Jody Scheckter title in 1979, the company expects Formula one championship fell into crisis. 1982 opened with a sharp fall in the 126C2, world-class drivers, and the promising results robust vehicle, the first races.

However, Gilles Villeneuve has completed the 126C2 in May, and his colleague Didier Pironi had his career cut short in a violent end over end flip backstraight at Hockenheim in the fog August. Pironi was leading driving around in time, would lose the lead in August Pironi was leading the championship in time: it is not seeing the glory of championship again during the life of Ferrari.

Enzo Ferrari died in Modena in 1988 at the age of 90 years at the beginning of the domination of the mixture of McLaren Honda. The only race that McLaren started the Grand Prix of Italy – this was held just weeks after Enzo's death, and accordingly, the result was a 1-2 Ferrari, with Gerhard Berger leading home Michele Alboreto. After the death of Enzo, Ferrari will have had greater success, especially with Michael Schumacher in 1996-2005.

Made a Cavaliere del Lavoro in 1952, to add to his honor as a gentleman and commander of the 1920s, Enzo also received a number of honorary degrees, Hammarskjöld Prize in 1962, the Columbus Prize in 1965, and De la Gasperi Award in 1987. In 1994, he was posthumously inducted into the International Automobile Salon of fame. Enzo De Gasperi Award in his pen, although the reason after his death induced in this remains unclear.

After the death of his son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari, Enzo wore sunglasses almost every day to honor her son.
