Fire Truck
Why does a fire truck to accompany an ambulance to a scene call 911?
Not sure if this applies to all states, but I live in Arizona and I'v seen four different 991 calls for my neighbor who has heart problems and I wondered why a fire truck always comes but not necessary. Thanks!
A Fire Engine is the first to be sent for several reasons. 1) that can respond Faster Than an ambulance as it made at a station is nearby and an ambulance might take 20 minutes to arrive, depending on your call load and location. 2) Most also Fire receive training as at least one EMT and all engines in Arizona have a paramedic on board and have all the necessary equipment for the treatment of ALS. 3) Firefighters are equipped for non-rescue operations / if needed to reach the victim, ambulance and would not have to wait for the police or fire engine.
