Taiwan (Country Regulation Overview)-Aarkstore Enterprise

Since the liberalisation of Taiwan’s telecoms market in February 1996, new entrants have started to provide various telecoms services and compete with the one-time monopoly Chunghwa Telecom. The National Communications Commission (NCC) is an independent and converged regulator for both the telecoms and broadcasting sectors, which came into operation in early 2006.

The fixed market is still dominated by Chunghwa Telecom, though there are four fixed licensed operators providing local fixed network services. In the broadband market, Taiwan is following its neighbours Japan and Hong Kong with a strong position for next-generation access (NGA). Taiwan’s FTTH/B household penetration is ranked fourth in the world by the FTTH Council, at almost 20%, with Chunghwa Telecom leading FTTx development and planning more fibre investment from 2008–13.

In the mobile market there are five 3G and four 2G operators providing mobile services, and competition is fierce. Retail mobile tariffs are still regulated by the retail-minus method, which is one of only a few cases in developed countries. With auctions on WiMAX licences in 2007, most operators with licences have launched mobile WiMAX commercial or trial services. Plans to auction two mobile TV licences in 2010 will also promote converged services in Taiwan.

According to official Star Trek canon, who was the first commander of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701?

On the show they mention Captain Pike.

But the name Robert April appears in some sources such as books and the animated show. But I don’t think you see it anywhere else.

If you remember the Episode… where Pike was wheelchair- bound…that was where everyone picks up that Pike was the first commander.. and they would be correct…
